So, it’s been 50 years since high school graduation. Sometimes those years flew by in a blur, and other times, they proceeded at a slow march. The roads I’ve traveled have been varied and twisted, through wastelands and paradises.
Many of you won’t remember me. I transferred into HHS for my junior year, and, having more credits than necessary in the Alabama system, I was only required to attend half days for a few classes. Having nothing else productive to do with my time, I availed myself of the technical school's computer science program. I also joined ROTC, which provided a sense of group to this outsider.
I have fond memories of playing competitive games of pinochle, listening to LPs, hanging out on Monte Sano, shooting firearms in the quarry, and doing all the things I knew I shouldn’t be doing, but doing them anyway. I was saddened to see that a couple of my compatriots had passed away.
After leaving Huntsville, I lived for a while in Savannah, Ga., Tampa, Fl, Jackson, Ms., Memphis, Tn, and eventually set down roots in Pensacola, Fl. I’m on my third marriage; one mistake, one too early death, and now with my soulmate. I have been blessed to have one daughter.
I keep myself busy with painting and reading, and occasionally, when I can force myself to do so, I work out.
